You

skilled guide will take you to your hotel for the night. Nairobi
is the capital of Kenya, and it is one of the the fastest growing
cities in Afrika. If you have the time you can for an extra fee visit
Karen Blixen's House, and there see her old farming tools and her
lifestyle inside the house.
Combined you can visit Langatta Giraffe Center where a few of the type
Rothschild's giraffes are breeding. Overnight : Nairobi Safari Club or simular Meals : Breakfast | | | DAY 02 : NAIROBI - TSAVO WEST
After
breakfastyou will go to Tsavo West. This park is one of the largest
areas preserved as National Park in Kenya. Here you can be lucky to see
all "The
big Five", which is lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. In this
area there once was maneating lions. It happened when the railway from
Nairobi to Mombase was built. They are now all shot. The landscape is
fantastic variating between small mountains and deep valleys. It is
beautiful to go game driving so enjoy it.
Overnight : Severin Luxurious Camp or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner
| DAY 03 : TSAVO WEST
Enjoy
the day in the park with picnic lunch. You will be taken to the rhino
reservation area where also elephants are present. Watch out for lesser
kudu. There are quite a few of them here - further north you have a
greater kudu. There are lots of leopards in this area so look up.
Sometimes you only can see a tale hanging down. Lions often rest on
rocky places and then you can ask yourself who is watching who ? It can
be very difficult to spot the game because there are many trees and
bushes growing here. But make the guide drive slowly so you have a
chance to see what is hiding between the bushes. Overnight : Severin Luxurious Camp or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 04 : TSAVO WEST - AMBOSELI
After
breakfast you will head for Amboseli. In this park you will see lots of
elephants. They are famous for having the largest tusks in Africa. Here
you also find wildebeest and cape buffaloes. There are lots of birds
represented here, especially herons. Look for the giant Goliath heron.
The tour between the two parks will have an armed guide in your vehicle
and you will be part of a convoy. Don't be scared, there has been no
attacks for the last twenty years. Usually you will be allowed to take
a walk on the lava between the two areas. This is quite exciting. Overnight : Ol Tukai Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 05 : AMBOSELI
The
animals in Amboseli are quite easy to spot, because the landscape is
fairly flat. Of course there are trees and bushes which can make it a
bit difficult but cheetahs and hyenas are often out in the open. Enjoy
the day with game drives and notice all the birds. Try to spot the
saddlebilled stork when it is fishing in small waterholes. It is the
tallest of all storks and it has a red spot on the chest. Take a dip in
the swimmingpool and have a drink. Overnight : Ol Tukai Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 06 : AMBOSELI - ABERDARE (NYANDARUA) The
guide will take you to the outskirts of Aberdare National Park, after
you have had your breakfast. Aberdare mountain range has a special
meaning to the Kikuyu tribe. They believe that Ngai (GOD) lives there.
The mountain range is up to 3930 m and hides deep valleys and rivers
with waterfalls. Overnight : Outspan Hotel or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 07 : ABERDARE - SAMBURU
After
breakfast you will depart for the Samburu area. It is far north and the
roads are probably still in very bad condition. You will pass huge
fields with coffee trees and ppineapple plants. The driver will
probably pass through Buffalo
Springs, where there are 365 species of birds
present. Samburu is a nice area with several special species
like reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, oryx and hippoes and
crocodiles for just to mention a few. Overnight : Samburu Sopa Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 08 : SAMBURU
The
reticulated giraffe is easy to recognize because of the sharp defined
spots. They only live north of ecuator. At the river shore you will see
crocodiles and monitor lizards. The monitor lizards are not dangerous,
but they can make a hard punch if you get too close. So keep a small
distance. You will see a type of Grant's gazelle, called Peter's
gazelle. You cannot as a normal turist tell the difference. Eland also
are present here together with oryx which is so beautiful with its one
meter long horns. The bigger kudu is also present here but only in a
limited amount. You can for an extra fee visit a samburu village. Overnight : Samburu Sopa Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 09 : SAMBURU - LAKE NAIVASHA
Lake
Naivasha is a fresh water lake. Only Lake Naivasha and Lake
Baringo are fresh water lakes, the other lakes in Rift Valley are all
soda lakes. In Lake Naivasha there are hippoes and a huge amount of
pelicans. There is an island named Cresent Island, where you can walk
between the animals. There are no big felines there but there are
waterbucks and several types of gazelles and antelopes. Overnight : Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 10 : LAKE NAIVASHA - LAKE BARINGO
This
is the other fresh water lake in Rift Valley. The wildlife is the same
as at Lake Naivasha, except here you will find crocodiles. Otherwise
huge floks of pelicans and other seabirds will be present. Overnight : Lake Baringo Country Club or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 11 : LAKE BARINGO - LAKE BOGORIA
This
lake is a soda lake. This is Paradise for flamingoes which comsumes
small crayfish. There are hot springs at the western side of the lake.
Close to Majimoto
(varm water) Gate there is a geyser geyser, that springs up 5-6 meter.
You will probably smell the sulphur comming from the hot springs. At
this lake there are 370 species of birds. At the eastern side of
the lake greater kudus roam. Overnight : Lake Bogoria Resort or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 12 : LAKE BOGORIA - LAKE NAKURU
I
love Lake Nakuru. Here you will find everything except elephants.
Because of the size of the area you can in two game drives see the
whole area. Here is your best chance to see leopard. If you are really
lucky you can see wild dogs here. There are not many of these in Kenya
but in Lake Nakuru they have been seen the last few years. There also
are lots of buffaloes and waterbucks here.
Both black and white rhinos are present. There is no difference in the
colour, but the white rhino got its name from its wide mouth. There are
lots of baboons, vervet monkeys and colobus monkeys. The photo to the
right is a colobus monkey. In Lake Nakuru there are more than 400
species of birds. Overnight : Lake Nakuru Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 13 : LAKE NAKURU - MASAI MARA
Already
on your way to The Mara you will see animals. Ostrich use to be present
along the road because it lives close to humans. You will probably also
see Thomson's gazelles. Masai Mara has it all. The only problem is to
spot the animals. I have seen all big five here. As you know rhino and
leopard are so difficult to spot but I saw them here. Otherwise here
you find wildebeest, zebra, topi, hartebeest, buffalo, cheetah, lion
and elephant, just to mention some of the animals to be seen. Overnight : Mara Sopa Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | | | DAY 14 : MASAI MARA
You
can either choose two game drives 2-3 hours each, one in the
morning and the other in the afternoon, or a full day game drive with
picnic lunch. In
Masai Mara you can for an extra fee fly in a hotair balloon. See the photos.
If you choose to go on a balloon tour you cannot choose a full day game
drive. It is very much up to your taste and money if you think it is
worth it. The price is something like 400 USD, included is champagne
breakfast. Very nice but even with all the champagne I missed the
coffee. While returning to you lodge you will have a game drive. Overnight : Mara Sopa Lodge or simular Meals : Breakfast, lunch, dinner | DAY 15 : MASAI MARA - NAIROBI
Departure
after breakfast to Nairobi. You will go to Carnivore
Restaurant for a goodby dinner/lunch. Everything is barbecued on
charcoal and it is delicious. Enjoy!! Drinks are on your own, but the
food is included in the safari price. On these long spears you will be
served something like ostrich, beef, lamb, chicken, spare ribs and
occationally zebra and crocodile. First they serve soup and last
dessert. When time comes you will be transfered to Jomo Kenyatta
Airport for your return flight. You can, if you like, buy a couple of
days to relax in either Mombasa or on Zanzibar Island. Meals : Breakfast, lunch | |
